I would love the opportunity to interview in person for a Teaching position. Thank you in advance for your consideration. My name is Marly Morris. Over the years, I have had the opportunity to hold some extraordinary teaching and training positions. I am looking forward to applying my extensive knowledge, skills and experience for a permanent full-time teaching position. • Exceptionally well qualified in engaging learners using differentiated instruction. • Passionate for igniting student curiosity and self-learning. • Experienced in Curriculum Mapping. I hope you’ll agree that the combination of my qualifications and experience for your school are a perfect fit. I am excited about the possibility of a personal interview at your earliest convenience to further discuss my credentials with you. Philosophy My philosophy of education is based on a student centered classroom in which the teacher acts more as a guide in the learning process. My philosophy is heavily based on the idea that all students are actively involved throughout the entire lesson. I believe that by keeping students actively involved in all your lessons, you will greatly reduce classroom management problems, increase class participation and improve standardized test scores. Every classroom presents a unique community of learners that varies not only in abilities, but also in learning styles. My role as a teacher is to give children the tools to cultivate their own knowledge bank, using a variety of teaching methods to address the various learning styles and various intelligences. My classroom will be a caring, safe, and equitable environment where each child can blossom and grow. I will allow children to become responsible members of our classroom community by using strategies such as class meetings and positive discipline. Teaching is a lifelong learning process - a process of learning about new philosophies and new strategies, learning from the parents and community, learning from colleagues, and especially learning from the children. Children have taught me to open my mind and my heart to the joys, the innocence, and the diversity of ideas in the world. Technology in the classroom Technology in the classroom plays a big role in today’s education system. Teachers have many advantages today that we simply did not have that long ago and it is important that teachers take advantage of these new technologies to increase student motivation and improve academic achievement. An example of technology in the classroom is the use of unitedstreaming.com. United streaming gives teachers access to unlimited amounts of video that can be easily downloaded and played back for the students in short little segments. What I do is show short video segments at the beginning of a lesson to spark student interest in a topic, and tap into and build upon their prior knowledge about a topic. In this way I can improve reading comprehension as reading comprehension is mostly based on a student’s prior knowledge about a given topic. Classroom Management The best “classroom management plan” is a strong “instructional plan.” In other words, I do not use an elaborate system of rewards and punishments to address classroom management issues. Instead I find it much more effective to be proactive. The vast majority of classroom management issues arise for 2 reasons: 1) boredom; 2) confusion. Addressing both of these issues starts from the second the students enter the classroom. By keeping students actively involved throughout the lesson, the students will not get bored. I believe my classroom management style is suitable and can be incorporated in whatever intervention plan is in place.
